The Arbor Gallery Cultural Centre held a special exhibition in September 2021 of the works of the late Shannon Jamieson and a screening of the award winning film "Shannon Amen" by director Chris Dainty. In 2002 Shannon launched her first art show at the Arbor Gallery entitled "Labour of Love". Almost 20 years later, the "Shannon Amen Exhibition" celebrates the artisic legacy left behind.
A posthumous celebration of her work, Shannon's bold, unapologetic, authentic art is intense, but that's who she was. She loved the raw energy of the fields and nature in her small town of Vankleek Hill. One of her happiest moments in life was having an art show at the Arbor Gallery in Vankleek Hill.
A screening of the film "Shannon Amen", directed by Chris Dainty and produced by the National Film Board of Canada, screened at the gallery and a selection of the artwork created for the film will be on display.
Born and raised in Hawkesbury, Ontario, Dainty's love for art and animation started at an early age. In high school Chris and Shannon became close friends and often wandered the country side in search of adventure. "Shannon Amen" is a love letter to a friend, gone too soon. This art show is a continuation of the creative collaboration that Chris and Shannon shared.
